Blue Willow Bookshop
Experience:
Blue Willow Bookshop is a charming and cozy cottage bookshop hidden in a West Houston strip mall. The facade is welcoming and invites you in with whimsy to this lovely shop. The employees were very friendly and answered numerous questions that I had around merch, finding youth graphic novels, recommendations, and the fascinating signatures all over the walls above the shelves. It is a very welcoming shop with a wide variety of choices of books and activities for all ages. I’m glad I was able to stop into this shop and will plan to visit it if I’m ever in Houston again.
Favorite Aspect:
My favorite aspect were the lovely employees who told us all about the shop and were sincerely friendly in their conversation. They shared with us that the signatures on the walls were from every author that had ever come to the shop. One of the employees pointed out a place where Mo Willems updated the wall with his infamous Pigeon and other authors had responded. There were even a few signatures and drawings that made it onto the drop ceiling in one part of the store, which brought a laugh and “I got in trouble for letting that happen.”
