Rainbow Booksellers is a children’s bookstore within the Milwaukee city limits (and the only one at that!) that greets you with a massive mural of a colorful bookshelf on the side facade of the building. You immediately know that you’ll be in good hands, as you see the non-perfect setup of the books on the faux shelf mixed with knick-knacks that feel familiar. Inside, the artwork and wall murals continue to provide a calm and child-friendly space for kids of all ages to find a suitable adventure through various texts.

Favorite Aspect:

The owner chatted with us about the place and it turned into a long conversation about all of the unique and fun events that happen around the Milwaukee area. We loved her sense of humor and informativeness as she shared all of the reasons for us to come back throughout the year. One thing was abundantly clear, people from Milwaukee are very proud of their city and want others to have a great time when visiting. She said, “Next time you come, start here and I’ll give you my list of all the best spots to go. She also provided us with a childhood snack of “Dots” which was a surprising and not unwelcome treat! You feel like you’re stepping out of the city to behold a gem, and it was certainly worth a visit!
