An Unlikely Story is a massive and enchanting space filled with everything a book lover would enjoy. From the getgo, you are introduced to a space filled with flying books overhead that - when paired with fairy lights - makes it look like a nighttime sky. The way that the space is broken up, makes it feel less overwhelming and more fun as there are trinkets, gifts, merchandise, book accessories, and toys throughout. It was incredible to see the amount of books, with each of the shelves well-labeled and following a logical pattern to help move you across similar genre sections. The number of patrons made me hopeful for the future of bookstores, as people were on their own adventures, grabbing holiday gifts and getting in touch with new books all over the space.

Favorite Aspect

The never-ending adventure aspect of the bookshop is something that makes it stand out. Around any corner, you will find something unexpected and you’ll realize that you’ve been in the store for nearly an hour before you notice there is also an amazing cafe. Over the holidays (when we visited), they had various gift items in the upstairs space. I imagine that this is typically a comfy reading area or event space. As soon as we left, we knew the shop would be one we’d tell others to explore, and we look forward to making our return soon enough!
