I AM Books is located on Salem Street in Boston's Italian North End is a nice addition to the neighborhood. The glass walled shop with shelves to display books is very inviting. Outside the shop is a book truck featuring bargain books. Inside the front door is the sales counter with a quote from Dante, where one may pay for merchandise, or ask questions.

The bookshop is unique in offering books in Italian, and imported Italian merchandise for both children and adults. Owner Nicola Orichuia, opened the shop in 2015 as the first brick and mortar Italian language bookshop in the U.S. According to him, the bookshop serves as an Italian-American cultural hub for the Boston area.

Besides books, the shop offers Italian focused merchandise, such as greeting cards, olive oil, soap, candles, toys, and socks.

Favorite Aspect

Our favorite part of the shop was the extensive children's book section, which features books in both Italian and English. There are discounted books as well as full-priced selections. Its hard to pass by and not select a book for a favorite child.
